2008 Michigan's Economic Bright Spot Award

While Michigan has its economic challenges, the state also has its "Economic Bright Spots", organizations that are growing and succeeding, as identified by Corp! magazine in 2008.  McGraw Wentworth was recognized for growing and expanding within Michigan, opening its Grand Rapids office in 2007, and for helping Michigan's employers compete by providing advisory services to help them attract and retain employees.


Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies (2007 and 2008)

Launched in 2007, the Inc. 5,000 list expands upon the magazine’s annual Inc. 500 listing, highlighting the fastest growing privately-owned companies by major industry and within major metropolitan regions including Metro Detroit.  In 2008, companies were ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2004 through 2007.

For two consecutive years, McGraw Wentworth earned several positions within the Inc. 5,000’s various lists.  In 2008, McGraw Wentworth was ranked:

  • 1 of only 132 Michigan-based companies to be included on the Inc. 5,000
  • # 44 nationwide amongst the fastest growing insurance companies
  • # 4829 in the national ranking of all companies based on a three-year growth rate of 45.9%

Business Insurance believes that diversity – whether through gender, race or ethnicity – is important for an industry that serves people and businesses in all walks of life.” (Business Insurance, July 30, 2007)  On an annual basis, Business Insurance recognizes fifty women worldwide who are succeeding and holding leadership roles in insurance, risk management, employee benefits and related fields.  In 2007, McGraw Wentworth’s Managing Director Rebecca McLaughlan was highlighted as a “Woman to Watch”.

Criteria considered when evaluating the candidates:
